The Aberdeen Mississippi Blues Markeris dedicated to the history of blues music in Aberdeen, Mississippi. It focuses on three influential blues artists: Booker “Bukka” White, Chester Arthur “Howlin’ Wolf” Burnett, and Albert King.

Bukka White was a singer-guitarist who lived in Aberdeen during the 1920s and 1930s and recorded the blues classic “Aberdeen Mississippi Blues” in 1940.

Howlin’ Wolf, another legendary bluesman, claimed Aberdeen as his birthplace.

Albert King, known as the “King of the Blues Guitar,” was also born in Aberdeen according to his Social Security records.

The marker provides insights into their lives, contributions to blues music, and their ties to Aberdeen. It was erected in 2009 by the Mississippi Blues Commission.
